The Main Square
It’s one of the oldest and the most beautiful squares in the country, it’s a Spanish square style. Surrounded by tamarind trees, "ficus", "crotos", "cucardas", "poncianas" and "papelillos" flowers.
It’s located in the centre of Piura. The Main Square or "plaza of Arms or Weapons". Its name is because the military (the three arms: navy, air force and army) and civilian parades were taken here. This tradition has remained so far. On Sunday, the "rising of our national flag" ceremony and civilian parades are celebrated in our Main Square.
In the centre of the main square, a "freedom" monument "La Pola", the oldest in Piura, was put nn 1870, during the rule of Balta, the Piura citizens called it "La Pola" because there was a wooden statue similar to the Policarpio Salvatierra’s one (the Colombian heroine).

The "Three Cultures" Square
It’s located in the fifth block of Lima Street. It has a rectangular shape. This square has been remodelled recently. It has a central monument of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro. And on both sides, there are two ornamental fountains with lights which gave them a special aspect at Piura nights.

"Ignacio Merino" Small Square
It’s located in the intersection of Jrón Libertad and Sanchez Cerro Avenue. This square has the name of the Piuran great painter José Ignacio Merino. Its monument is surrounded by 4 beautiful gardens.
Around this square, we can see the Religious Art Museum, the old "Salesiano" school, "Maria Auxiliadora" church and the local of the "Instituto Nacional de Cultura" (National Institute of Culture) where there was a school "Fátima".

Roundabout "Bolognesi"
In the central part, a monument in honour of our hero of the Pacific War Francisco Bolognesi was built. Its bonze figure is 2.10 metres high approximately. In the middle part of the monument, we can find a woman shape which has a laurel crown, symbol of glory.

Roundabout "Grau"
It has a modern style monument which represents our Peruvian navy hero Don Miguel Grau Seminario. On its both sides, there are tow columns, symbols of strength, courage and energy which exalt our motherland. In the front, there are two canyons and two allegoric figures which represent serenity and action. On the top, there is a naked God raising a cross on her right hand depicting the ship faith, and on the left hand a sword depicting the navy genius.

"Miguel Cortes" Square
It was inaugurated in 1959. This square has the name of the "battle of Junin" hero, the lieutenant Miguel Cortés de Castillo. This park is known as "Concha Acústica" (Acoustic seashell) or "Parque Infantil" (Children’s park). On Sunday, this park is full of children running all around the park and its gardens. Some cultural and social events are carried out here.
